What the hell is brand strategy? And how to use it.

First of all, no one really knows. 

So you are not alone. 

This post is to explain to you what I think it is, and how you can use your “brand strategy” best.

WHAT I THINK IT IS:

Brand Strategy is a way of putting all of the amazing ideas you have about your business as well as what you would like to communicate to your dream clients all down on paper and then having a clear guide of communicating and delivering these ideas and conversations in a visual way to your target audience.

Having a clear brand strategy helps you find your dream clients and creates trust with them which leads to sales.

HOW SHOULD YOU USE IT:

So you:

• have your typography picked out
• have your colour palette sorted (and have all of your hex codes written down somewhere that you can easily copy/paste from)
• have your primary & secondary logos designed and in a bunch of diff colours ready to go
• have patterns and social media flare icons picked out and ready
• have a folder full of stock photography that is all on brand and that you are proud to share
• have had pro shots taken of yourself, your space, your lifestyle
• know all of your keywords of your desired style ie. simplistic, modern, retro
• know exactly who your target audience is and you’re ready to find them already
• have clear one year and five year goals written out for yourself

Now it’s time to put it all into action. 

1. Grab a canva pro account. (trust me you will NOT regret it)
2. Collect all of your colours, fonts, and logos and add them to your “brand kit” on your canva account. Want to know how? Click here.
3. Search canva for “social media posts” “pinterest posts” “letterhead” “presentation” whatever you are hoping to create (and use your keywords to help find a template if you need one) and open up either a blank template or a suggested template that you feel works with your BRAND STORY.
4. Upload all of your stock photos, your pro shots, and your patterns/flare to the uploads area of your toolkit.
5. Remember to use only the colours in your colour palette as well as only your fonts in the designs you create from now on! (switching it up isn’t the brand you have decided on, stay on track, remember this creates client trust)

You know who your ideal customers are, you know what their problems are, so you know what you need to communicate to them! You also know what kind of language they would best respond with – so remember to write with them in mind 🙂

*Hint: When creating posts try adding these types of posts every week:

– personal post (a photo of yourself, a struggle you’ve had, the urge to share some love
– sales post (what do you want clients to purchase from you)
– a free tip (giving away information for free is a great way of reaching out)

THE KEY:

Remember that the work you have done to build your brand strategy and brand kit was good work and you should trust it moving forward. Keep it in the back of your mind or literally on hand as you shout your message out into the world.
